Turkmenistan participates in Arab-Islamic summit in Qatar

Turkmenistan's Foreign Affairs Minister Rashid Meredov is in Doha on 14-15 September to participate in an emergency meeting of Foreign Affairs Ministers from the League of Arab States and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation. At the summit, the Turkmen delegation voiced the country's official position, emphasising the unacceptability of forceful methods of resolving international conflicts, which contradicts the UN Charter and the norms of international law. This was reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan. During the visit, R. Meredov met with the Prime Minister and Foreign Affairs Minister of Qatar, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani. R. Meredov conveyed greetings from the President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, and the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. During the talks, the parties discussed the prospects for bilateral cooperation in the political, trade, economic and humanitarian spheres.


Turkmenistan steps up fight against tuberculosis

A specialised seminar on tuberculosis diagnosis was held in Ashgabat from 10 to 12 September, organised by the United Nations Development Programme in conjunction with the ‘Saglyk’ State Health Programme. The event took place at the Central Laboratory of the Center for Infectious Disease Control. This was reported by IIC. Experts from tuberculosis hospitals in all five velayats of the country took part in the seminar. The main goal of the event was to strengthen laboratory capacity and improve the quality of medical care in the field of tuberculosis diagnosis and treatment. Participants learned about modern approaches to diagnosing the disease and mastered the practical application of the latest laboratory technologies. This initiative is part of a systematic effort to improve national health care and strengthen measures to combat infectious diseases in Turkmenistan.


New ‘Yutong’ buses launched in Ashgabat

New ‘Yutong’ buses have been introduced on city routes in Ashgabat. These modern 12-metre vehicles with three doors and air conditioning have already begun transporting passengers, according to the news website Turkmenportal. The vehicles are equipped with Euro-5 engines and a cashless payment system. For safety and convenience, there are devices to monitor passenger boarding and alighting, video surveillance, GPS and cameras that track the bus's movement and the driver's performance. The interior is designed to accommodate people with disabilities, and there is a voice announcement system to notify passengers of upcoming stops. As part of the city's autopark renewal programme, the capital of Turkmenistan has received a total of 700 new Chinese-made buses.

A striking example of the fulfilment of the tasks set is the publication of a new textbook, Korean Language, for 9th grade students in general education schools, prepared by authors D. Soyunnazarova and M. Mammedova (published by the Turkmen State Publishing Service, 2025). This was reported by the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan. ‘Arkadag’ set a record in the Turkmenistan championship with its 20th consecutive victory

One of the practical results of this work was the publication in 2025 of a Japanese language textbook for 9th grade general education schools. The textbook, developed by a team of authors consisting of H. Ito, N. Katsu and A. A distinctive feature of the new textbook is its multimedia format: the dictionary and texts are accompanied by audio recordings, which helps to develop students' language skills. The publication includes a variety of exercises, dialogues, grammar materials and a bilingual glossary that meet modern methodological requirements. This textbook is a practical implementation of the tasks of digitising education and improving foreign language teaching in Turkmenistan.


Training courses on aviation security were held in Turkmenistan

The ‘Türkmenhowaýollary’ State Service, with the support of the European Civil Aviation Conference (ECAC), held two training courses on improving national aviation security. The first programme focused on the testing and operation of screening equipment, the analysis of images in introscopes, the operation of explosive detectors and manual screening systems.
