Ashgabat will host the 7th Central Asia Climate Change Conference

With the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, as well as with the assistance of the Ministry of Environmental Protection, Ashgabat will host the 7th Central Asia Climate Change Conference (CACCC-2025) from 12 to 15 May 2025 on the theme: ‘Achieving the Global Climate Finance Goal through Regional and National Actions in Central Asia’. This is reported by the news agency ‘Turkmenistan: Golden age’. The conference is organised by the Regional Environmental Centre for Central Asia (CAREC). CACCC-2025 will be a platform for discussing priority areas of the region's climate agenda, including mitigation (reduction of greenhouse gas emissions), adaptation to changing climatic conditions, as well as issues of rational water resources management. The focus will be on consolidating the efforts of the region's states, academia, environmental organisations and international financial structures to develop practical solutions that promote sustainable development and environmental stability. The conference events will take place over four days, including plenary sessions, thematic sessions, workshops and roadshows. The central events will take place on 13 and 14 May at the Yyldyz Hotel. Experts from the Chinese Academy of Sciences (Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography) and the International Water Management Institute will join the discussion on climate-smart approaches to water and land resources restoration in Central Asia. The conference will be rounded off by a series of side events, including a workshop on research and adaptation measures in the water sector (15 May), the 60th meeting of the CAREC Governing Board, a field trip to the Akhal velayat to learn about ecosystem solutions for forest plantations, and a cultural programme.


Turkmen gymnasts will participate in the tournament "EAST CUP & Olympic Stars"

Turkmenistan's rhythmic gymnastics team travelled to Guangzhou, China, to participate in the international tournament ‘EAST CUP & Olympic Stars’. This is reported by the IIC of Turkmenistan. The selection to the national team was preceded by the national championship held in Mary velayat. The tournament gathered about 60 gymnasts from all over the country. The tournament was held under the updated FIG rules for the 2025-2028 cycle, emphasising artistry and aesthetics. Within the framework of the championship 12 sets of awards were played. Ashgabat gymnasts won 9 gold medals (M.Ilyasova, A.Geldiyeva, L.Avanesova, F.Kambarova, L.Chorekliyeva, S.Gulberdiyeva, F.Gunaslan, M.Orazova, V.Kurdupova), one each - gymnasts from Mary (H.Akmuradova, L.Soyunova) and Balkan (M.Pomanova) velayats. At the tournament in Guangzhou left 13 gymnasts under the guidance of head coach Firuza Ayvazova and her colleagues. Taking into account the previous successes of the national team at the tournaments in Tashkent, high results are expected from the athletes.


In Turkmenistan, the oil production plan has reached figures of 107.9%

During the regular meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Batyr Amanov presented a report on the work of the oil and gas industry of Turkmenistan for the first four months of 2025. This is reported by the state news agency TDH. According to the Deputy Prime Minister, the State Concern ‘Türkmennebit’ has achieved 107.9 per cent in oil production and 105.9 per cent in oil refining. The plan for the production of petrol was fulfilled by 102.3%, diesel fuel - by 100.8%, lubricating oils - by 110.4%, liquefied gas - by 111.7%. Also, the plan for the production of natural and associated gas reached 103.5 per cent. Having heard the report, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasised the need to further increase the volume of oil and gas production, ensure maximum utilisation of production capacities, stability of their operation, increase the efficiency of drilling operations, commissioning of new wells and introduction of advanced technologies, addressing relevant instructions to the Deputy Prime Minister.

Turkmenistan held celebrations marking the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War. The National Leader of the Turkmen People, Chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov laid flowers at the monuments of the memorial complex ‘People’s Memory’. This is reported by the state news agency TDH. In his festive address, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted the contribution of war and labour veterans to the development of the country, education of youth and strengthening of national unity. Veterans and families of the frontline soldiers received congratulations and material assistance from the head of state. The story of Berdimuhamed Annayev, a war participant, whose war documents and the regiment's banner are kept in the military school named in his honour, became a symbol of the memory of the heroic deeds of Turkmen soldiers. Victory Day celebrations coincided with the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's neutrality. This year the UN General Assembly reaffirmed the country's status as a neutral state maintaining peace and trust. A solemn ceremony was held at the ‘People’s Memory’ memorial with the participation of government representatives, veterans, youth and diplomatic corps. On 9 May, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov arrived in Moscow on a working visit at the invitation of President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin to participate in solemn events dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War. This is reported by the state news agency TDH. At the airport ‘Vnukovo-2’ the President of Turkmenistan was met by officials and presented with rare copies of the newspapers ‘Pravda’ and ‘Sowet Türkmenistany’ from 1945. Then the presidential motorcade proceeded to the Kremlin, where a meeting with Vladimir Putin took place. Later, Serdar Berdimuhamedov together with other heads of state took a seat on the Central Stand of the Red Square. The Victory Parade took place there, opening with the striking of the chimes and Vladimir Putin's speech. A minute of silence was declared in memory of the victims. Troops of the Russian Federation and other countries, including the Honour Guard Company of the Ministry of Defence of Turkmenistan, took part in the parade. During the visit, the contribution of the Turkmen people to the common victory - both on the front and in the rear - was emphasised. After the parade, the leaders laid flowers at the tomb of the unknown soldier in Alexander Garden. Having completed his participation in the commemorative events, Serdar Berdimuhamedov left for Turkmenistan, where he was met by officials at Ashgabat International Airport.

The National Leader of the Turkmen People, Chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov made a working trip to Ashgabat, during which he visited the construction site of the Turkmen State Institute of Architecture and Construction and familiarised himself with the projects of other facilities. Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov also got acquainted with the building projects of the Centre for Children and Youth ‘Güneşli’ and supported the construction of a new children's library named after Bazar Amanov on its territory. In addition, the National Leader of the Turkmen People toured the territory of the Neutrality Monument, where it is planned to create museums reflecting the foreign policy course of the country. The Chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty also got acquainted with information on the construction of a number of other facilities: Dental Centre, Oncological and Paediatric Medical Centres, residential houses, schools, kindergartens, cultural centre and infrastructure projects. Special attention was paid to the reconstruction of the Akhalteke Equestrian Complex of the President of Turkmenistan. Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasised the need for high quality standards and scientific approach in the improvement of facilities. At the end of the visit, the Chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty gave instructions to control the timing and quality of construction, noting that large-scale construction works continue throughout the country and are aimed at the development of social infrastructure.


The GDP of Turkmenistan grew by 6.3% from January to April of the current year

Turkmenistan's GDP grew by 6.3% year-on-year in January-April 2025, Deputy Prime Minister Khojamyrat Geldimyradov said at the Cabinet of Ministers meeting on 8 May, TDH reports. The largest increases were recorded in transport and communications (11.1%), trade (9.9%) and services (8.8%). Construction grew by 4.4 per cent, agriculture by 4 per cent and industry by 0.6 per cent. Total output increased by 9.7 per cent, retail turnover by 12.4 per cent and foreign trade by 2.2 per cent. Budget revenues were executed by 101.5 per cent, expenditures - by 97.6 per cent. The average wage at large and medium-sized enterprises increased by 11.5 per cent, while investment grew by 11.4 per cent. After hearing the report, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov instructed to ensure sustainable development of the economy and maintain positive GDP dynamics.
