Turkmen student participated in a digital education programme in Turkey

Aysoltan Annamammedova, a fourth-year student at Oguz Han University of Engineering and Technology in Turkmenistan, took part in training as part of the international educational initiative ‘Future Skills Sprint’, which took place in Istanbul from 20 to 22 November. This was reported by the news agency ‘Turkmenistan: Golden age’. The initiative for young talents was organised by the MEXT Technology Centre, the UNDP Regional Centre in Istanbul, UNDP Turkey and Hepsiburada. The programme was aimed at developing professional competencies, expanding knowledge of digital technologies and supporting innovative thinking. A. Annamammedova earned the right to participate after successfully completing online training from the UNDP Regional Centre. The programme provided students with access to modern international practices and skills in the field of digital technologies. In Istanbul, participants attended a series of thematic sessions on artificial intelligence, the digital economy, the future of the labour market, and international cooperation. The intensive educational programme helped to strengthen professional skills, unlock the creative and scientific potential of students, and stimulate their interest in developing innovative projects. A. Annamammedova's active participation in the programme underscored the desire of Turkmen youth for continuous development and the acquisition of modern knowledge.


A conference on international law was held in Turkmenistan

On 19 November, a scientific and practical conference dedicated to improving the national legal system in accordance with international standards was held at the Adalat Palace. This was reported by the Orient news agency. The event, entitled ‘The Year of International Peace and Trust – a Triumph of Prosperity, Progress, and Democracy’ was organised by the Supreme Court of Turkmenistan in conjunction with the Mejlis, the Institute of State, Law and Democracy, and the Institute of International Relations of the Foreign Affairs Ministry. The conference was attended by judges, deputies, teachers, researchers and representatives of international organisations, including experts from the UN and the OSCE. Speakers included the director of the Institute of State, Law and Democracy, Yagmyr Nuryev, Mejlis deputy Muhammetberdi Geldimammedov and the Head of the Supreme Court Department, Amantach Gurbanova. Particular attention was drawn to international partners: Head of the UNFPA Representative Office Kemal Goshliyev, UNDP Human Rights Project Manager Lachyn Artykova, UNICEF National Consultant Magtymguly Hojamyradov and OSCE staff member Guncha Nepesova. In their reports, participants discussed the international legal status of Turkmenistan's permanent neutrality, its role in global security and the country's peacebuilding initiatives, including sustainable development and environmental security. A proposal was made to include the item ‘Neutrality for Peace and Security’ in the agenda of the 80th session of the UN General Assembly. At the end of the conference, it was emphasised that all of the country's international initiatives are in line with the UN Charter, and that Turkmenistan supports strengthening the role of the UN in ensuring peace, stability and development, improving the international legal framework and the effective implementation of multilateral agreements.


Turkmenistan presented initiatives to develop academic ties with France

At the conference ‘Turkmen-French Relations: Challenges and Prospects in the Modern World’ in Paris, Gulshat Yusupova, Rector of the Institute of International Relations of the Foreign Affairs Ministry of Turkmenistan, presented initiatives for the development of academic cooperation with French universities, including Paris II Panthéon-Assas, Sorbonne and the Institute of Political Studies (Sciences Po). This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan. The proposals focus on joint master's and doctoral programmes in green energy, water resource management and diplomatic studies, as well as research projects in the field of sustainable development, including methane emissions monitoring, hydrogen technologies and environmentally friendly urban planning. G. Yusupova emphasised that Turkmenistan's neutrality is not only a foreign policy doctrine, but also an intellectual concept that promotes dialogue and innovation.


Young people from Turkmenistan will go to study at leading foreign universities

On 21 November, during a government meeting, Bayramgul Orazdurdyeva, Deputy Chairwoman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, reported on plans to send young citizens of Turkmenistan to study at universities in China and Hungary. This was reported by the state news agency TDH. The Deputy Prime Minister noted that Turkmenistan gives priority to the training of qualified personnel and is expanding opportunities for modern education abroad. After hearing the report, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasised the importance of comprehensive training of specialists and recalled that thousands of students are already studying at prestigious foreign universities. The Head of State supported the proposal to send young people to leading educational institutions in China and Hungary in the 2026–2027 academic year and instructed B. Orazdurdyeva to organise the necessary work.


Central Asian countries agree on mutual recognition of diplomas

Central Asian countries have agreed to mutually recognise higher education diplomas. Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan have signed a corresponding agreement, according to AsmanNews. The document provides for the automatic recognition of qualifications obtained at accredited universities in these countries. This simplifies employment, internships and further study at master's or postgraduate level without the need for re-verification of diplomas. Recognition is valid provided that the qualifications comply with the general standards of the participating countries. Refusal is only possible if serious discrepancies are found between the documents presented and national requirements.


Students from the MFA's Institute of International Relations in Turkmenistan attended diplomatic courses in Saudi Arabia

Students from the Institute of International Relations of the Foreign Affairs Ministry of Turkmenistan have completed a five-day diplomatic course, which took place from 16 to 20 November at the Prince Saud Al Faisal Institute of Diplomatic Studies under the Foreign Affairs Ministry of Saudi Arabia. The programme was implemented as part of a Cooperation Agreement between the two educational institutions, according to the press service of the Foreign Affairs Ministry of Turkmenistan. Participants studied the Kingdom's foreign and domestic policies, as well as the specifics of its interaction with Central Asian countries. Lecturers Ahmed Al-Fayez, Dr. Khaled Ibrahim Al-Ali and Dr. Raja Al-Mazrouqi presented analytical materials on international relations, government programmes and the ‘Vision 2030’ initiative. Excursions to the ‘Al-Masmak’ Museum, ‘Riyadh Boulevard’ Park and ‘Imam Turki bin Abdullah’ Mosque were also organised for the students. At the end of the programme, the participants received certificates.


Turkmenistan and France expand scientific and educational dialogue

A conference dedicated to Turkmen-French relations was held at the Institute for International and Strategic Affairs (IRIS) in Paris. The event was organised by the Embassy of Turkmenistan and timed to coincide with the 30th anniversary of the country's neutrality and the legacy of Magtymguly Pyragy, according to IIC. Participants noted that Turkmenistan considers the development of the education system and its integration into the international arena to be one of its key priorities. It was emphasised that the policy of permanent neutrality, based on trust and dialogue, contributes to stability in Central Asia and opens up new opportunities for cooperation with France. An important topic of the conference was the cultural heritage of Magtymguly Pyragy. His ideas of peace and humanism were presented as a common spiritual guideline that strengthens ties between the two countries.


Doctors from Japan perform joint endoscopic surgeries in Ashgabat

A delegation of doctors from Kyushu University Hospital (Fukuoka) arrived in Turkmenistan as part of a special programme organised by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). The Japanese specialists are holding working meetings and sharing their experience of performing modern endoscopic surgery on the gastrointestinal tract, according to Infoportal. During the visit, the doctors familiarised themselves with the equipment used in Turkmen medical institutions and participated in the diagnosis and treatment of patients together with local specialists. Particular emphasis was placed on the use of new equipment for accurate diagnosis and minimally invasive surgical techniques. On 18 November, a joint scientific and practical seminar was held at the International Scientific and Clinical Centre for Physiology. Professors and doctors from both countries discussed the practice of modern endoscopic surgery, the results of operations and the possibilities for further implementation of seamless treatment methods. Professor Tomohiko Mariama, a doctor-endoscopist at Kyushu National University Clinic, noted that modern diagnostic and treatment technologies are being actively introduced in Turkmenistan, which improves the quality of medical care. The visit of Japanese specialists continues. Additional operations and consultations are planned in Ashgabat clinics.


The international competition ‘“Agro Innovations” has concluded in Turkmenistan

The Turkmen Agricultural Institute has concluded the Second International Scientific and Project Online Competition ‘Agro Innovations: The Path to Sustainable Development’, which was held on 12–13 November. Young researchers from Turkmenistan and ten other countries took part in the event, according to Turkmenportal. Two hundred scientific projects were submitted to the competition. The grand opening was attended by the heads of leading agricultural educational institutions. Participants presented their developments in sections covering key areas of the agro-industrial complex. The projects were evaluated according to criteria of scientific novelty, practical significance and applicability in agricultural production.


Turkmen students receive awards for success in international competitions

The Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan held a solemn ceremony to award students and schoolchildren who achieved high results in international competitions. This was reported by IIC. Students from Magtymguly Turkmen State University (TSU), who won six medals at the World Young Physicists Olympiad ‘WYPO 2025’ in Indonesia, were recognized, as well as a team of high school students from Specialized School No. 97 in Ashgabat, who won the FIRST GLOBAL CHALLENGE 2025 robotics competition in Panama. The Grand Prix and gold medal were awarded to TSU student Musa Artykov. Gold was also awarded to Kerim Cherkezov. The team of schoolchildren was recognised for their outstanding performance in the robotics competition. The winners were presented with certificates of honour and valuable gifts.


Turkmen students exceled at international mathematics competition in Poland

From 6 to 10 November, the International Student Team Competition in Mathematics (ISTCiM) was held in Katowice (Republic of Poland), organised by the University of Silesia. Turkmen students showed brilliant results, winning a total of 22 awards of various merits, according to the state news agency ‘Turkmenistan: Golden age’. In the individual competition, representatives of Turkmenistan won nine gold, eight silver and two bronze medals. The most successful were students from the International University for the Humanities and Development, who added five gold medals to their collection of achievements. Students from the Magtymguly Turkmen State University won three gold and two silver medals, while the team from the Oguz Han University of Engineering and Technology won one gold, one silver and one bronze medal. In addition, the Turkmen teams were successful in the team competition, winning two silver and one bronze medals, as well as two incentive awards at the end of the competition. The Olympiad brought together more than 150 students from leading universities in Poland, Great Britain, Spain, Italy, Austria, Germany, France and Turkmenistan. Participants were given complex tasks in mathematical analysis, algebra, combinatorics, geometry, probability theory and functional equations.


Turkmen-Russian cooperation in the field of education discussed in Ashgabat

On 10 November 2025, a meeting was held between Gulshat Yusupova, Rector of the Institute of International Relations of the Foreign Affairs Ministry of Turkmenistan, and Ivan Volynkin, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to Turkmenistan.
