The development of the ‘Huawei ICT Academy’ was discussed separately. This refers to a training programme offering international certification (HCIA, HCIP and HCIE) in the fields of cloud technologies, AI and cybersecurity. Preliminary agreements were reached on launching pilot vouchers for students for ‘Huawei’ certification, drafting a memorandum on establishing an ICT Academy in Turkmenistan, localising AI training materials, and providing universities with access to a resource centre and courses. The achievements of Turkmen students in the ‘Huawei ICT Competition’ were also highlighted. The parties plan to involve lecturers more actively in international academic programmes. They agreed to move towards the practical implementation of joint projects.
On 16 April, with the support of the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan, the Dovletmammet Azadi Turkmen National Institute of World Languages is hosting the online international scientific and practical conference ‘Youth Scientific Research’. This was reported by IIC. The event has been organised as part of the state policy in the field of science and education and the Strategy for the Development of Higher Education for 2026–2052. The conference comprises five sections covering issues of languages, linguistics, cultural interaction, teaching methods and translation. Participants are discussing the role of language in international relations, the humanities and intercultural communication. The forum is attended by students from Turkmenistan and representatives of universities from the UK, Germany, South Korea, China, Japan, Russia, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. The best academic papers will be published in the online journal ‘Issues of Philology’. Atajan Movlamov, Turkmenistan’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Pakistan, took part in a round-table discussion attended by Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan, Chairman of the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme, Heads of diplomatic missions and representatives of international organisations in Pakistan. The event took place on 14 April in Islamabad at the premises of the National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC). The Pakistani side presented information on the activities of the NAVTTC, ongoing reforms in the field of technical and vocational education and training (TVET), and the development strategy up to 2025. Participants discussed prospects for cooperation in the areas of workforce training, certification and labour mobility, as well as the development of joint educational programmes, scholarships and centres of excellence. A. Movlamov spoke about national approaches to reforming the vocational education system, focusing on labour market needs and the development of international cooperation. The diplomat also emphasised the importance of training specialists for the implementation of regional energy projects, including TAPI and TAP. Following the meeting, the parties expressed their readiness to continue the dialogue and expand cooperation between relevant ministries and educational institutions.
On 15 April, a meeting took place in Ashgabat between the Minister of Education of Turkmenistan, Jumamyrat Gurbangeldiyev, and a delegation led by Vasily Shaikhraziev, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan, Russian Federation. The development of digital education, the introduction of innovative technologies and Turkmenistan’s participation in relevant international events, including ‘Kazan Digital Week’, were also discussed. Special mention was made of teacher training programmes and the exchange of experience, implemented with the participation of Naberezhnye Chelny State Pedagogical University. Areas of youth and humanitarian cooperation were also considered, including student participation in academic competitions and the organisation of cultural initiatives. In conclusion, the parties confirmed their intention to expand academic exchanges, joint research and digital educational projects, expressing confidence in the further strengthening of the partnership.
The ‘Luban Workshop’ has opened in Ashgabat at the Yagshygeldi Kakayev International University of Oil and Gas. The project aims to train specialists for the oil and gas industry and to develop educational cooperation with China. This was reported by AsmanNews. The ceremony was attended by a delegation led by Ding Xuexiang, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and First Deputy Premier of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China. The Turkmen State Institute of Economics and Management has announced the results of the 4th Open International Online Olympiad in Macroeconomics, organised with the support of the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan. This was reported by the publication ‘Turkmenistan: Golden age’. The Olympiad brought together students from universities in Turkmenistan and abroad. It was attended by 135 students from 36 higher education institutions across 10 countries, including Turkmenistan, Russia, Belarus, Armenia, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Germany and Pakistan. At the end of the competition, 62 participants won prizes: 17 students took first place, 27 took second place, and 18 took third place. Among them, students from Turkmenistan won 16 prizes — 3 first places, 7 second places and 6 third places. Sixteen students from Russian universities also became winners and prize-winners. Students from Kyrgyzstan secured eight prize-winning places, whilst participants from Uzbekistan secured six. Representatives from Kazakhstan, Armenia, Belarus, Pakistan and Germany also became prize-winners. The Turkmen State Institute of Economics and Management congratulated the winners and expressed its gratitude to the participants for their interest in the Olympiad, noting its contribution to the development of international educational cooperation and the expansion of opportunities for the scientific and creative potential of young people.
The 3rd International Mathematics Olympiad for school students has come to a close in Ashgabat. The closing ceremony took place at the Magtymguly Turkmen State University. This was reported by the publication ‘Turkmenistan: Golden age’. A total of 170 school students took part in the competition: 58 from Turkmenistan and 112 from 10 countries, including Russia, Armenia, Uzbekistan, China, Belarus, Turkey, Iran, Tajikistan and Kazakhstan. At the end of the Olympiad, the Turkmen school students won 29 medals — 6 gold, 10 silver and 13 bronze — and took first place in the overall team standings. Second place went to the team from Uzbekistan (16 medals), and third to Tajikistan (15 medals). The winners and prize-winners were presented with medals, certificates and commemorative gifts, including the book by the President of Turkmenistan, ‘Ýaşlar – Watanyň daýanjy’ (Youth is the support of the Motherland). Representatives from the education sector, members of the jury, participants and their mentors spoke during the ceremony. It was noted that the Olympiad had served as a platform for exchanging experiences and supporting talented young people. Foreign delegations thanked the Turkmen side for organising the event. The Olympiad concluded with a concert programme featuring creative ensembles from the Ministry of Culture of Turkmenistan.
On 9 April, Sh. Meredov, Turkmenistan’s Ambassador to the Republic of Uzbekistan, held a meeting with B. Mirzayev, Rector of the Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Agricultural Mechanisation Engineers (TIIAME) – National Research University. On 10 April, the State Energy Institute of Turkmenistan hosted an awards ceremony for the winners of the ‘Start-ups in the Field of Renewable Energy’ competition. This was reported by IIC. The competition was organised by the State Energy Institute of Turkmenistan and the project EU for a Green Turkmenistan: ‘Policy Dialogue and Climate Action 2024-2029’. The initiative is co-funded by the European Union and the German Federal Foreign Office and implemented by the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ). Fifty-three projects have reached the final. They were selected from school students, students and young professionals aged between 18 and 30 from across the country. The competition is timed to coincide with the 2026 motto ‘Independent Neutral Turkmenistan − the Homeland of Purposeful Winged Horses’ and aims to support youth initiatives in the field of the ‘green’ transition. Participants presented projects in three areas: solar and wind energy, biomass and bioenergy, as well as energy efficiency and digital solutions. Abdyrahman Myratdurdyev, a representative of the Ministry of Energy of Turkmenistan, noted that the development of renewable energy sources and the introduction of new technologies are among the priorities of the country’s energy strategy. According to him, the competition helps to find practical solutions in the field of energy efficiency and prepares future specialists for the industry. The jury selected nine winners – three in each category. The first-place winners received a study trip to Germany to learn about experiences in the field of renewable energy. The other finalists were awarded certificates of honour and commemorative gifts. Representatives from the Ministry of Energy and the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan attended the ceremony. The organisers note that the competition contributes to the development of the ‘green’ economy and the implementation of national climate strategies.

Before the ceremony, participants and delegations viewed a themed exhibition at the university. A cultural programme featuring creative groups was also held. The Olympiad aims to identify the strongest school students and foster international cooperation in the field of education.
On 10 April, the 5th International Online English Language Olympiad for university students from Turkmenistan and abroad will open at the Dovletmammet Azadi Turkmen National Institute of World Languages. This was reported by the publication ‘Turkmenistan: Golden age’. Hundreds of students from 32 countries and 48 leading universities will take part in the competition. The Olympiad will last two days and will be held in accordance with the approved regulations. The opening ceremony will take place in the institute’s main conference hall: local participants and guests will attend in person, whilst international students will join online. During the competition, participants will demonstrate their knowledge of the English language, as well as their skills in its theoretical and practical application.
