The International Internet Olympiad has commenced in the city of Arkadag

The opening ceremony of the International online Olympiad ‘International Peace and Trust – the Foundation of Economic Development’ was held in city of Arkadag. The event is timed to coincide with the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s permanent neutrality, the 80th anniversary of the UN and the International Year of Peace and Trust. This was reported by IIC. The Olympiad is being held at the International Horse Breeding Academy named after Aba Annayev. It involves 535 students from 72 universities in 15 countries. The aim of the competition is to develop economic thinking, deepen understanding of the role of Peace and Trust in sustainable development, and build economic analysis skills.


A student from Turkmenistan has won the award of ‘Foreign Student of the Year’ of the Russian Federation

Igor Yermolayev, a student at the Institute of Physics, Mathematics and Natural Sciences at North Caucasus Federal University, who came from Turkmenistan, won the All-Russian ‘Foreign Student of the Year’ Award in the ‘Scientific Breakthrough of the Year’ category. This was reported by the news website Asmannews. The award ceremony was held at the Peoples' Friendship University of Russia in Moscow. The award, established by the Association of Foreign Students in Russia, was presented to winners in eight categories.


Turkmenistan hosted a conference on digital technologies in education

On 26 November, the Yagshygeldi Kakayev International University of Oil and Gas held an international scientific and practical conference entitled ‘Prospects and Implementation of Digital Innovative Technologies in the Scientific and Educational Sphere.’ The forum was held in a hybrid format and was timed to coincide with the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's neutrality, according to the state news agency ‘Turkmenistan: Golden age’. The event was attended by representatives of universities, scientific organisations, relevant companies, ministries and international structures. In total, the conference brought together about 1,500 participants from 22 countries. Before the start of the conference, guests were introduced to an exhibition of digital solutions and educational projects prepared by the university. After the grand opening, a plenary session was held, where more than 30 reports were presented. The work then continued in three sections: ‘Digitization and Digital Technologies in the Education System’, ‘Cybersecurity and Artificial Intelligence’, and ‘The Role of the Digital Economy in Achieving Sustainable Development Goals’. A total of more than 120 reports were heard. The main purpose of the forum was to discuss trends in digital technologies and their integration into education and science, as well as to develop international cooperation in this area. The speakers noted Turkmenistan's achievements in the field of digital solutions, which were made possible due to long-term development programmes and the introduction of modern technologies. Participants emphasised Turkmenistan's readiness to expand partnerships with foreign universities, companies and international organisations in the field of science and technology.


Turkmen delegation discusses scientific cooperation with Italy

On 24 November, a Turkmen delegation led by the head of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan, Allaberdi Ashirov, visited the Italian city of Acquasparta. This was reported by the news agency Orient. The delegation was received by the mayor of the city, Giovanni Montani. During the visit, the delegation visited the Palazzo Cesi, the world's first academy of sciences, where Galileo Galilei worked, and key cultural and scientific sites in the region. During the meeting, A. Ashirov spoke about Turkmenistan's foreign policy, which is based on neutrality, peacefulness, and mutually beneficial cooperation. The development of bilateral relations in accordance with the agreements reached during the visit of the President of Turkmenistan to Italy in October was discussed. The mayor of Acquasparta invited the Turkmen representatives to an international conference of mathematicians and physicists. In turn, A. Ashirov invited the mayor to a conference dedicated to Turkmenistan's Science Day. The parties confirmed their readiness for further dialogue and strengthening cooperation between the countries and exchanged best wishes.


Turkmen student wins international competition for Turkic youth

Nuryagdy Bayryev, a fourth-year student at the Law Faculty of Magtymguly Turkmen State University, has won the international competition ‘Best Student of the Turkic Peoples’. This was reported by the news agency ‘Turkmenistan: Golden age’. He spoke at the online event and received a first-degree diploma, a badge and a cup for his achievements in the field of youth policy among Turkic peoples. The competition was held in Astana (Kazakhstan) and was organised by the ‘Bilim-orkenieti’ National Innovative Research Centre in conjunction with the ‘Žana Kazakhstan’ Republican Innovative Centre. Previous winners also included Ziyada Yusubova, a fourth-year student majoring in history at Magtymguly TSU.


Turkmen student participated in a digital education programme in Turkey

Aysoltan Annamammedova, a fourth-year student at Oguz Han University of Engineering and Technology in Turkmenistan, took part in training as part of the international educational initiative ‘Future Skills Sprint’, which took place in Istanbul from 20 to 22 November. This was reported by the news agency ‘Turkmenistan: Golden age’. The initiative for young talents was organised by the MEXT Technology Centre, the UNDP Regional Centre in Istanbul, UNDP Turkey and Hepsiburada. The programme was aimed at developing professional competencies, expanding knowledge of digital technologies and supporting innovative thinking. A. Annamammedova earned the right to participate after successfully completing online training from the UNDP Regional Centre. The programme provided students with access to modern international practices and skills in the field of digital technologies. In Istanbul, participants attended a series of thematic sessions on artificial intelligence, the digital economy, the future of the labour market, and international cooperation. The intensive educational programme helped to strengthen professional skills, unlock the creative and scientific potential of students, and stimulate their interest in developing innovative projects. A conference on international law was held in Turkmenistan

On 19 November, a scientific and practical conference dedicated to improving the national legal system in accordance with international standards was held at the Adalat Palace. This was reported by the Orient news agency. The event, entitled ‘The Year of International Peace and Trust – a Triumph of Prosperity, Progress, and Democracy’ was organised by the Supreme Court of Turkmenistan in conjunction with the Mejlis, the Institute of State, Law and Democracy, and the Institute of International Relations of the Foreign Affairs Ministry. The conference was attended by judges, deputies, teachers, researchers and representatives of international organisations, including experts from the UN and the OSCE. Speakers included the director of the Institute of State, Law and Democracy, Yagmyr Nuryev, Mejlis deputy Muhammetberdi Geldimammedov and the Head of the Supreme Court Department, Amantach Gurbanova. Particular attention was drawn to international partners: Head of the UNFPA Representative Office Kemal Goshliyev, UNDP Human Rights Project Manager Lachyn Artykova, UNICEF National Consultant Magtymguly Hojamyradov and OSCE staff member Guncha Nepesova. In their reports, participants discussed the international legal status of Turkmenistan's permanent neutrality, its role in global security and the country's peacebuilding initiatives, including sustainable development and environmental security. A proposal was made to include the item ‘Neutrality for Peace and Security’ in the agenda of the 80th session of the UN General Assembly. At the end of the conference, it was emphasised that all of the country's international initiatives are in line with the UN Charter, and that Turkmenistan supports strengthening the role of the UN in ensuring peace, stability and development, improving the international legal framework and the effective implementation of multilateral agreements.


Turkmenistan presented initiatives to develop academic ties with France

At the conference ‘Turkmen-French Relations: Challenges and Prospects in the Modern World’ in Paris, Gulshat Yusupova, Rector of the Institute of International Relations of the Foreign Affairs Ministry of Turkmenistan, presented initiatives for the development of academic cooperation with French universities, including Paris II Panthéon-Assas, Sorbonne and the Institute of Political Studies (Sciences Po). This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan. The proposals focus on joint master's and doctoral programmes in green energy, water resource management and diplomatic studies, as well as research projects in the field of sustainable development, including methane emissions monitoring, hydrogen technologies and environmentally friendly urban planning. G. Yusupova emphasised that Turkmenistan's neutrality is not only a foreign policy doctrine, but also an intellectual concept that promotes dialogue and innovation.


Young people from Turkmenistan will go to study at leading foreign universities

On 21 November, during a government meeting, Bayramgul Orazdurdyeva, Deputy Chairwoman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, reported on plans to send young citizens of Turkmenistan to study at universities in China and Hungary. This was reported by the state news agency TDH. The Deputy Prime Minister noted that Turkmenistan gives priority to the training of qualified personnel and is expanding opportunities for modern education abroad. After hearing the report, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasised the importance of comprehensive training of specialists and recalled that thousands of students are already studying at prestigious foreign universities. The Head of State supported the proposal to send young people to leading educational institutions in China and Hungary in the 2026–2027 academic year and instructed B. Orazdurdyeva to organise the necessary work.


Central Asian countries agree on mutual recognition of diplomas

Central Asian countries have agreed to mutually recognise higher education diplomas. Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan have signed a corresponding agreement, according to AsmanNews. The document provides for the automatic recognition of qualifications obtained at accredited universities in these countries. This simplifies employment, internships and further study at master's or postgraduate level without the need for re-verification of diplomas. Recognition is valid provided that the qualifications comply with the general standards of the participating countries. Refusal is only possible if serious discrepancies are found between the documents presented and national requirements.


Students from the MFA's Institute of International Relations in Turkmenistan attended diplomatic courses in Saudi Arabia

Students from the Institute of International Relations of the Foreign Affairs Ministry of Turkmenistan have completed a five-day diplomatic course, which took place from 16 to 20 November at the Prince Saud Al Faisal Institute of Diplomatic Studies under the Foreign Affairs Ministry of Saudi Arabia. The programme was implemented as part of a Cooperation Agreement between the two educational institutions, according to the press service of the Foreign Affairs Ministry of Turkmenistan. Participants studied the Kingdom's foreign and domestic policies, as well as the specifics of its interaction with Central Asian countries. Lecturers Ahmed Al-Fayez, Dr. Khaled Ibrahim Al-Ali and Dr. Raja Al-Mazrouqi presented analytical materials on international relations, government programmes and the ‘Vision 2030’ initiative. Excursions to the ‘Al-Masmak’ Museum, ‘Riyadh Boulevard’ Park and ‘Imam Turki bin Abdullah’ Mosque were also organised for the students. At the end of the programme, the participants received certificates.


Turkmenistan and France expand scientific and educational dialogue

A conference dedicated to Turkmen-French relations was held at the Institute for International and Strategic Affairs (IRIS) in Paris. The event was organised by the Embassy of Turkmenistan and timed to coincide with the 30th anniversary of the country's neutrality and the legacy of Magtymguly Pyragy, according to IIC. Participants noted that Turkmenistan considers the development of the education system and its integration into the international arena to be one of its key priorities. It was emphasised that the policy of permanent neutrality, based on trust and dialogue, contributes to stability in Central Asia and opens up new opportunities for cooperation with France. An important topic of the conference was the cultural heritage of Magtymguly Pyragy. His ideas of peace and humanism were presented as a common spiritual guideline that strengthens ties between the two countries.
