From 12 November to 3 December, a delegation from the Mejlis of Turkmenistan took part in the 37th Inter-Parliamentary Internship Programme organised by the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) Programme of the Ministry of External Affairs of the Republic of India and held in New Delhi. This was reported by the press service of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan.

The programme was aimed at studying the basics of parliamentary activity, exchanging experience and improving the professional skills of participants.

The interns were presented with detailed information about the structure and work of the Indian Parliament — its committees, apparatus, as well as the Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha chambers. Particular attention was paid to the legislative process, the role of parliament in the country's political system, the interaction of deputies with the media, and the educational work of the Institute of Parliamentary Studies.

The participants gave presentations on their parliaments and countries. Representatives of Turkmenistan spoke about the priorities of Turkmenistan's peaceful policy, the composition of the Mejlis, and the ongoing reforms of the legal framework, including the development of parliamentary diplomacy.

Excursions to historical and cultural sites in India, which were held as part of the programme, will allow participants to consolidate their knowledge in practice.
