Kazakhstan’s President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev spoke at the international forum dedicated to the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s permanent neutrality. He thanked President Serdar Berdimuhamedov for the reception and noted the high level of organization of the event, reports IIC.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev emphasized that Turkmenistan’s policy of positive neutrality strengthens stability in Eurasia and enhances the country’s international authority. He also highlighted the contribution of the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, in promoting international initiatives.
The President of Kazakhstan supported Turkmenistan’s peacekeeping diplomacy, including the idea of the International Year of Peace and Trust, approved by the UN General Assembly. He added that in times of increasing tension, dialogue, cooperation, and adherence to international law are of particular importance.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev stated that Kazakhstan supports Turkmenistan’s proposals for developing multilateral cooperation, including the establishment of the UN University of Peace and Neutrality. He also spoke in favor of UN reform and strengthening the role of the General Assembly.
The Kazakh leader noted that Central Asian countries demonstrate effective regional cooperation, focusing on transport and logistics projects, water security, and the preservation of the ecosystems of the Aral and Caspian Seas.
In conclusion, he expressed confidence that the forum in Ashgabat would contribute to strengthening international peace and trust, and wished the Turkmen people continued prosperity.
