At the ‘Oil and Gas of Turkmenistan – 2025’ conference in Ashgabat, Irina Luryeva, Doctor of Technical Sciences and Head of the ‘Türkmengaz’ State Concern Laboratory, presented a report on the status and prospects of the ‘Galkynysh’ field development. This was reported by the online news resource TerraNews.

According to her, development is being carried out according to a seven-stage strategy. The first stage involves pilot commercial production: 52 wells are already in operation, 7 are being prepared for connection, and 8 are being drilled.

The next stages involve a gradual increase in gas production, and the data collected will allow the geological and hydrodynamic model to be adjusted and development to be optimised. Full development of all stages could provide production of almost 200 billion cubic metres of gas per year.

I. Luryeva also emphasised the importance of technological and environmental measures, including the utilisation of sour gases and the injection of carbon dioxide into aquifers and depleted reservoirs to reduce the environmental impact.
