Specialists from Turkmenistan received training on greenhouse gas monitoring

Online training sessions on modern satellite technologies for monitoring greenhouse gas emissions were held in Turkmenistan. The training was organized within the framework of the project “EU in Turkmenistan: Towards Green Development — Policy Dialogue and Climate Action for 2024–2029,” with support from the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ). This was reported by AsmanNews.
The event took place at the Information and Analytical Center of the Research Institute of Natural Gas of the State Concern “Turkmengas.” Representatives of relevant ministries and agencies, as well as specialists from “Turkmengas” and “Turkmennebit,” took part in the training.
GHGSat expert Lola Odunsi presented satellite technologies for monitoring greenhouse gas emissions, methods of data processing, and automated emission detection. International standards, including the OGMP 2.0 initiative and European Union requirements, were also reviewed.
Participants were introduced to the capabilities of the GHGSat platform and discussed practical aspects of applying satellite monitoring for environmental control.
