Secondary school students from Turkmenistan will take part in the Junior Mental Calculation World Championship, which will be held from 4 to 6 October in Bielefeld, Germany. This was reported by the news agency ‘Turkmenistan: Golden age’.

The tournament has been held since 2008 and annually attracts over 100 participants from nearly 20 countries. Contestants compete in three age categories, performing mental arithmetic tasks ranging from basic operations to fractions and factorisation.

The country will be represented by eight schoolchildren who passed the qualifying competition in the spring of this year. All of them are students of the ‘Kämil bilim’ education centre and study at specialised schools in Ashgabat, Balkanabat and Turkmenabat.

The team was formed in April after an internal competition, where the teenagers successfully completed tasks at the world championship level.
