On 30 June 2025, a telephone conversation took place between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, Rashid Meredov, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Republic of Zambia, Mulambo Haimbe. This was reported by the Foreign Affairs Ministry of Turkmenistan.

During the conversation, the parties discussed the further development of inter-state relations, paying particular attention to cooperation in the political, diplomatic, trade and economic fields. Issues of interaction within international organisations, primarily the UN, were also touched upon. Special attention was paid to preparations for the Third United Nations Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDC3). The sides noted Zambia's active participation in the UN Ministerial Conference on Transport for such countries, held in August 2022.

The telephone conversation confirmed the mutual interest of Turkmenistan and Zambia in strengthening their partnership at the bilateral and multilateral levels.
