Turkmenistan and the EU discussed prospects for developing bilateral relations

On 8 July, Turkmenistan's Foreign Affairs Minister Rashid Meredov had a conversation with the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Vice-President of the European Commission, Ms. Kaja Kallas. This was reported by the press service of the Foreign Affairs Ministry of Turkmenistan.

Ms. Kaja Kallas thanked Turkmenistan for establishing a humanitarian corridor for EU citizens travelling from Iran to their countries of residence.

The parties discussed the prospects for the development of bilateral relations and noted the effectiveness of the meeting of the foreign ministers of Central Asian countries with the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy in Ashgabat in March 2025.

Special attention was paid to the significance of the first ‘EU – Central Asia’ summit, which took place in April 2025 in Samarkand.

In addition, issues related to deepening political and diplomatic cooperation, as well as regional and international topics of mutual interest, were discussed.
