Turkmen Transport and Logistics Centre (TULM), the country's leading rail transport operator, has organised the first train on a new international route connecting Turkey, Turkmenistan and Kyrgyzstan. This project is being implemented as part of the ‘Europe-Central Asia’ transport corridor and aims to expand multimodal freight transport in the region. This was reported by IIC.
The first shipment on the new route was a delivery of humanitarian aid from the United Nations. Turkish railcars arrived at the Etrek station in Turkmenistan. The cargo was then transferred to rolling stock that meets CIS standards for further transport to Kyrgyzstan's Osh station.
Established in 2018, TULM plays a key role in developing the national logistics infrastructure, increasing transit traffic volumes and optimising the delivery of multimodal cargo. The successful launch of the new route confirms Turkmenistan's growing importance as a key link in international transport corridors.
