Turkmenistan team wins 6 medals on third day of WKF Central Asian Karate Championship

The third day of competition at the 10th WKF Central Asian Karate Championships in Bishkek brought six new medals for the Turkmen team. Athletes won two gold, two silver and two bronze medals in various weight categories of the kumite discipline. This was reported by the online publication ‘Turkmenistan: Golden age’.

The gold medallists were Arzuv Seyitguliyev, a military serviceman of the Ministry of Defence (weight category up to 55 kg), and Bayry Bayryev, a student at the Turkmen State Institute of Architecture and Construction (up to 84 kg). Both athletes demonstrated excellent technique and tactical superiority in the final bouts.

Silver medals were won by Resul Garatayev from the Security Service of the President of Turkmenistan (up to 55 kg) and Davut Nazmyradov, a student at the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (up to 75 kg). Bronze medals went to school student Gurbannazar Amandurdyev from the Ahal velayat (juniors up to 55 kg) and MNS employee Shatlyk Allakov (over 84 kg).

Thus, after three days of competition, the total medal count for the Turkmenistan team is 18: 5 gold, 5 silver and 8 bronze. A total of 609 athletes from five Central Asian countries are participating in the tournament. Turkmenistan is represented by 36 karatekas competing in kata and kumite disciplines.
