The organising committee of the international festival ‘Sounds of the Dutar’ named after Nury Halmamedov has joined the large-scale media project ‘Poems of Victory,’ initiated by the Library Assembly of Eurasia with the support of the Presidential Library. The project, dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory, has united the CIS countries in preserving the poetic heritage of the war years. This was reported by IIC.
Turkmenistan presented the work of poet Hemra Shirov, father of Ayna Shirova, a well-known composer and member of the jury of the ‘Sounds of the Dutar’ festival. His soulful poems, reflecting the pain of loss and the fortitude of the Turkmen people during the war, were included in the project's documentary film. The film was officially presented at the All-Russian Library Congress under the slogan ‘Victory. Stronger Together.’ The event, which took place from 26 to 29 May 2025, brought together representatives of the Eurasian library community and became a platform for discussing the role of culture in preserving historical memory.
Participation in the project highlights the importance of Turkmen literature in the pan-Eurasian cultural space, the role of the ‘Sounds of the Dutar’ festival as a bridge between tradition and modernity, and the ability of art to unite peoples with a common history and values. This project is a testament to the fact that poetry and music remain a living reminder of the deeds of our ancestors and the importance of peace for future generations.
