The Caspian Environmental Forum could become an important tool for further effective work in the field of environmental issues and for consolidating a basic approach to their resolution. The idea to hold the forum in 2026 was put forward to the international community by the President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, at the 80th session of the UN General Assembly, reports the news agency "Turkmenistan: Golden Age".
President Serdar Berdimuhamedov said that Turkmenistan would promote the Caspian Environmental Initiative, which had been presented at the 78th session of the UN General Assembly as an international platform for preserving the Caspian Sea ecosystem. He added that an important step in this direction would be the Caspian Environmental Forum, which Turkmenistan proposed to host in 2026.
The Head of State also noted that Turkmenistan will continue to work actively on environmental and climate issues, seeking to ensure their systematic consideration as a key approach to security. The country will contribute to the creation of multilateral mechanisms for monitoring and responding to climatic, environmental and man-made disasters.
