Speaking at a meeting of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov announced the development of a draft Constitutional Law ‘On the Legal Foundations of the Policy of Peace and Trust of Neutral Turkmenistan.’ This was reported by the news agency ‘Turkmenistan: Golden age’.

The law establishes the legal basis for Turkmenistan's permanent neutrality and the principles for its implementation in international relations, including neutrality, equality, good neighbourliness, non-use of force, non-participation in military alliances, non-interference in the internal affairs of other countries and respect for sovereignty.

The policy aims to use the opportunities offered by neutrality and preventive diplomacy in the spirit of the UN, develop trust-based relations, strengthen regional and global security, and create conditions for the country's sustainable development.
