National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov arrived on a visit to the Republic of Azerbaijan. At the Heydar Aliyev International Airport, Hero Arkadag was met by high-ranking officials. This was reported by the news site Asmannews.

During the talks with the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, the parties confirmed the high level of bilateral relations and outlined the priorities for further cooperation in the political, diplomatic, trade, economic, energy, cultural and humanitarian spheres. The special importance of expanding partnerships within the UN, the Organization of Turkic States, the CIS and other international structures was emphasized.

Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov noted that relations between the two countries are based on historical, cultural and spiritual commonality, and stressed the willingness to develop cooperation in new directions. In response, Ilham Aliyev expressed gratitude for the visit and confirmed the willingness to strengthen ties at all levels.

As part of the visit, Hero Arkadag also visited the Azerbaijani Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan, where he met with the Chairwoman of the National Parliament Sahiba Gafarova. The interlocutors discussed issues of parliamentary diplomacy, the role of legislative bodies in strengthening peace and security, and exchanged initiatives in the field of gender equality, youth interaction and humanitarian cooperation.

Special attention was paid to the spiritual component of relations. During the meeting with the Chairman of the Caucasus Muslim Board Sheikh ul-Islam Allahshukur Pashazade, the role of religious figures in strengthening fraternal ties, educating youth and promoting the values of Islam was discussed. The Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty emphasized the importance of interreligious dialogue and invited the spiritual chairman of the Caucasus Muslim Board to take part in the International Conference in Ashgabat in December 2025, dedicated to the International Year of Peace and Trust.

In addition, the National Leader of the Turkmen people laid flowers at the grave of Heydar Aliyev and visited the Victory Park, honoring the memory of those who died for the independence of Azerbaijan.

Then Hero Arkadag visited the resort complex ‘Sea Breeze’, where he got acquainted with the infrastructure projects being implemented on the coast of the Caspian Sea.
