At the United Nations Headquarters in New York, on the sidelines of the Second International Migration Review Forum, Chairman of the State Migration Service of Turkmenistan Amanmukhammet Sazakow met with Director General of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) Ms. Amy Pope. The parties discussed strengthening cooperation in the implementation of international standards into national legislation and the practical realization of migration policy, as well as prospects for cooperation within the global migration system.
Amy Pope highly praised Turkmenistan’s humanitarian initiatives and its contribution to hosting international forums, noting the country’s consistent migration policy based on the principles of solidarity and good-neighborliness.
Special attention was also given to Turkmenistan’s efforts to support foreign citizens who found themselves in difficult situations due to regional crises. The parties expressed their intention to continue developing their partnership.
