On 30 September, the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan hosted a conference entitled ‘International Cooperation: A Guarantee for Strengthening Peace and Sustainable Development.’ This was reported by the online news resource TerraNews.
The event was opened by the Rector of the institute, Gulshat Yusupova. The conference was attended by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, Rashid Meredov, representatives of the UN and UNICEF, as well as ambassadors from Central Asian countries and Azerbaijan.
R. Meredov emphasised Turkmenistan's commitment to cooperation with the UN, the implementation of the ‘Pact for the Future’ and the initiatives presented at the 80th session of the General Assembly. Among the priorities are strengthening international law, supporting neutrality and preventive diplomacy for global security and sustainable development.
The projects of the International Forum ‘Central Asia - a Space of Peaceful Coexistence’, the World Summit on the Culture of Peace, the Caspian Environmental Forum and the activities of the Regional Centre for Combating Desertification were discussed.
The participants expressed their support for Turkmenistan's foreign policy and confirmed their readiness for further cooperation.
