Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan aligned their positions during the talks in Avaza

Negotiation was held in the Avaza National Tourist Zone between the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, who arrived in Turkmenistan on a visit to participate in a trilateral meeting. This was reported by the state news agency TDH.

The President of Azerbaijan was warmly welcomed in accordance with Turkmen traditions of hospitality: with bread and salt and flowers, and was accompanied along a carpeted path by the Honour Guard.

During the negotiation, the current state of Turkmen-Azerbaijani relations and promising areas for their development were discussed. Particular attention was paid to trade and economic ties: the growth of foreign trade, the increase in export and import volumes, the development of cooperation in energy, transport and logistics, construction, the textile industry and communications were noted. They also discussed joint work on the development of a transport corridor across the Caspian Sea, multimodal transport and the improvement of air links between the countries.

In addition to the economy, cultural and social projects were also in the spotlight: the organisation of cross-cultural days, exhibitions of works by Turkmen and Azerbaijani artists, presentations of folk crafts and horse breeding, joint sports and tourist events, and the development of science, education and healthcare. All this is aimed at strengthening friendship and mutual enrichment of the cultures of the two peoples.

The National Leader of the Turkmen people emphasised the historical and cultural commonality of the Turkmen and Azerbaijani peoples, expressed gratitude to the President of Azerbaijan for his participation in the meeting and the high level of organisation, and noted the importance of dialogue for further strengthening bilateral and regional cooperation. In turn, Ilham Aliyev highly appreciated the development of Avaza, its world-class infrastructure and the contribution of the Hero Arkadag to raising the international status of Turkmenistan.

The negotiation continued in an expanded format, where specific initiatives were discussed to develop political and diplomatic partnership, trade, energy, transport, cultural and educational ties. Both sides noted the great potential for deepening cooperation and expressed readiness to put forward mutually beneficial proposals for further development of relations.

At the end of the meeting, Hero Arkadag thanked the President of Azerbaijan for his visit, wished him good health and success in state governance, and wished the people of Azerbaijan peace, prosperity and well-being.
