On 6 June, Turkmenistan's Foreign Affairs Minister Rashid Meredov held talks with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi as part of a collective meeting of Central Asian foreign ministers. The minister conveyed warm greetings from the leadership of Turkmenistan and confirmed his readiness to deepen bilateral cooperation. This was reported by the Foreign Affairs Ministry of Turkmenistan.
The key topic of the talks was the acceleration of the implementation of the strategic Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline project. The parties discussed specific steps to resume construction work and give new impetus to this energy megaproject.
During the meeting, the importance of the North-South International Transport Corridor, which is to connect the transport systems of Turkmenistan and India with the markets of the Middle East, the Caspian region and Europe, was also noted. Particular attention was paid to expanding cooperation in such priority areas as energy, transport logistics, high technology and pharmaceuticals.
