On 22 June 2025, a telephone conversation took place between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, Rashid Meredov, and the First Deputy Secretary of State of the United States, Christopher Landau. The talks were held at the initiative of the American side in a friendly and constructive atmosphere. This was reported by the Foreign Affairs Ministry of Turkmenistan.

During the conversation, the parties noted the long-standing positive experience of cooperation between the two countries in various fields, including politics, trade, economics, and social and cultural areas. Particular attention was paid to discussing current international and regional issues, in particular the situation in the Middle East and related humanitarian aspects.

The Turkmen side emphasised its commitment to the principles of peaceful settlement of international disputes and expressed its readiness to use the full range of diplomatic instruments to promote stabilisation in the region. The special role of Turkmenistan as a neutral state, recognised three times by the international community through the UN, was noted.
