On 21 August, the President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, inspected the progress of construction work on the International Paediatric Centre, which is being built in the south of Ashgabat. The project is in its final stages and forms part of the Directorate of International Medical Centres, according to the news agency TDH.

M. Gayipov, Minister of Health and Medical Industry, reported on the progress of construction work, the equipping of wards and the landscaping of the site. The President of Turkmenistan was also shown the Centre’s designs and plans, including arrangements for the fitting out of consultation rooms, clinical laboratories, operating theatres and inpatient wards.

The Head of State inspected the consultation, diagnostic and treatment rooms, inpatient wards and other facilities. The International Paediatric Centre is designed to provide medical care to children over the age of three. Its operations are to be organised in collaboration with leading global clinics.

Particular attention has been paid to the digitalisation of medical processes and the application of artificial intelligence technologies. The diagnostic department has been fitted with state-of-the-art equipment for endoscopy, functional diagnostics and radiology. The therapeutic department is equipped, in particular, with digital X-ray and intensive care units.

Serdar Berdimuhamedov instructed that measures be taken to ensure the efficient operation of the equipment, the storage of electronic treatment records and the application of modern digital technologies. The Head of State also emphasised the need to enhance the professional skills of medical staff and to adopt leading international practices.

The Centre is equipped to provide post-operative care, monitor hygiene standards and maintain the necessary microclimate. The inpatient ward is equipped with patient rooms and a children’s play area.

The opening of the International Paediatric Centre is scheduled to coincide with the year marking the 35th anniversary of independence and is timed to coincide with Healthcare and Medical Industry Workers’ Day. President Serdar Berdimuhamedov has instructed that construction work be completed and the facility prepared for opening by the set deadline.
