At the 80th session of the UN General Assembly, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov proposed holding an international forum entitled ‘Central Asia: Space of Peaceful Coexistence’ with the support of the UN. This was reported by IIC.
The initiative highlights the region's historical role as a bridge between East and West and its potential for developing dialogue and cooperation.
Turkmenistan, based on the principles of neutrality and peaceful coexistence, seeks to strengthen trust and good-neighbourly relations both in Central Asia and at the global level.
Holding the forum under the auspices of the UN should confirm the region's importance in ensuring security and sustainable development, as well as emphasise Turkmenistan's leading role in regional cooperation.
