Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan plan to deepen trade and economic partnership

President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held negotiations in Tashkent on the development of trade and economic partnership and the strengthening of comprehensive cooperation. The leaders exchanged views on key issues on the regional and international agenda. This was reported by Turkmenportal, citing the newspaper ‘Turkmenistan’.

The meeting took place at the Kuksaroy Presidential Palace as part of the Turkmen leader's state visit to Uzbekistan.

The parties discussed current areas of bilateral relations, focusing on the coordination of efforts in the format of consultative meetings of the Heads of State of Central Asia and the work of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea, as well as issues of regional security and assistance in the reconstruction of Afghanistan.

Serdar Berdimuhamedov proposed holding the next meeting of the Turkmen-Uzbek Business Council and the third interregional forum in 2026, as well as opening trading houses in Ashgabat and Tashkent. The President of Turkmenistan noted the significant potential for further development of economic cooperation.
