Turkmenistan and India discuss expansion of co-operation at foreign ministers' meeting

Turkmen Foreign Affairs Minister Rashid Meredov and Indian Foreign Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar held talks in New Delhi on 5 June 2025. During the meeting, the interlocutors reviewed the current state and prospects for the development of bilateral relations. This is reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

Particular attention was paid to strengthening political dialogue through regular contacts at the highest levels, as well as intensification of interaction between the foreign ministries. The ministers noted the effectiveness of partnership within the framework of international organisations and reaffirmed the intention to expand cooperation in trade and economic sphere.

The development of cooperation in information technologies, transport and logistics, interaction in the textile, chemical, petrochemical and pharmaceutical sectors were named key areas. Attention was paid to the expansion of cultural and humanitarian ties, including scientific and educational exchanges.

The Foreign Ministers stressed the importance of enhancing the efficiency of the work of the Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation and expressed confidence in further development of bilateral relations.
