A study visit of the Turkmen delegation to the Republic of Belarus within the framework of the project of UNDP and the Ministry of Finance and Economy of Turkmenistan started on 2 June this year. The purpose of the visit is to study the Belarusian experience in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and exchange best practices in strategic planning and statistical monitoring. The delegation included representatives of the Cabinet of Ministers, the Ministry of Finance and Economy, as well as the State Statistics Committee of Turkmenistan. During the visit, meetings have already been held with representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Economy and the Scientific Research Economic Institute (SREI), where they discussed the development of national sustainable development strategies and the preparation of voluntary national reviews.
Special attention was paid to the cooperation with UNDP in Belarus - the delegation got acquainted with the current projects of the organisation aimed at the implementation of the SDGs. In the coming days, meetings with the National Statistical Committee, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection, as well as with representatives of the business community within the framework of the UN Global Compact are planned.
