The European Ahal-Teke Horse Association presented Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, National Leader of the Turkmen people and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, with an honorary award ‘For a significant contribution to the development of horse breeding’ and the accompanying cup. This was reported by the news agency TDH.

The award was presented during an open session of the International Association of Ahal-Teke Breeding in Kronenberg.

Expressing his gratitude for the honour bestowed upon him, Hero Arkadag noted that the award is a symbol of respect and gratitude to the Turkmen people and to Turkmenistan — the ancient homeland of the Ahal-Teke racehorses.

According to the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, the centuries-old history of the Ahal-Teke breed is inextricably linked to the history of the Turkmen people. Over the centuries, Ahal-Teke horses have remained faithful companions and a source of pride for the Turkmen people.

Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasised that preserving the historical heritage of the Ahal-Teke horse and ensuring its further development is a shared task. The National Leader of the Turkmen people noted that the necessary conditions for this have now been created.

Hero Arkadag also emphasised the importance of developing Ahal-Teke horse breeding not only through Turkmenistan’s own efforts, but also by strengthening cooperation with foreign partners. Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov identified the development of a strategy and the definition of key areas for the sector’s development over the coming decade as one of the main tasks.

According to the National Leader of the Turkmen people, hosting the world competition at the ‘Peelbergen’ professional cluster demonstrates the further objectives in developing international cooperation in the field of Ahal-Teke horse breeding.
