Turkmenistan took part in a meeting on Afghanistan in Almaty

On June 15, 2026, a meeting of Special Representatives and Envoys of the European Union and Central Asian countries on Afghanistan was held in Almaty. Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Ahmet Gurbanyan took part in the event, according to the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
Participants discussed the situation in Afghanistan, as well as prospects for regional cooperation and international engagement aimed at supporting the country’s sustainable development.
Particular attention was paid to the role of international organizations. The importance of the United Nations and its specialized agencies was emphasized in providing humanitarian assistance, supporting Afghanistan’s socio-economic development, strengthening state institutions, and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
The Deputy Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan reaffirmed the country’s consistent position in supporting a peaceful, stable, and economically sustainable Afghanistan. It was noted that Afghanistan is viewed as an important participant in regional integration processes and should be involved in international economic cooperation.
The Turkmen side stated its readiness to continue cooperation with regional countries, the European Union, and international organizations in order to strengthen regional stability and expand mutually beneficial cooperation.
