Turkmen students exceled at international mathematics competition in Poland

From 6 to 10 November, the International Student Team Competition in Mathematics (ISTCiM) was held in Katowice (Republic of Poland), organised by the University of Silesia. Turkmen students showed brilliant results, winning a total of 22 awards of various merits, according to the state news agency ‘Turkmenistan: Golden age’.

In the individual competition, representatives of Turkmenistan won nine gold, eight silver and two bronze medals.

The most successful were students from the International University for the Humanities and Development, who added five gold medals to their collection of achievements. Students from the Magtymguly Turkmen State University won three gold and two silver medals, while the team from the Oguz Han University of Engineering and Technology won one gold, one silver and one bronze medal.

In addition, the Turkmen teams were successful in the team competition, winning two silver and one bronze medals, as well as two incentive awards at the end of the competition.

The Olympiad brought together more than 150 students from leading universities in Poland, Great Britain, Spain, Italy, Austria, Germany, France and Turkmenistan. Participants were given complex tasks in mathematical analysis, algebra, combinatorics, geometry, probability theory and functional equations.
