The oil and gas industry in Turkmenistan, which is a key sector of the economy, continues to develop through international cooperation and the training of highly qualified personnel. An important step in this direction has been the implementation of educational programmes with leading Chinese energy companies and universities. This was reported by the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan.

A group of students from the Yagshygeldi Kakayev International Oil and Gas University is undergoing training and practical work experience at the China University of Petroleum (Beijing) from 29 June to 20 July. This programme is organised within the framework of Memoranda of Cooperation signed in 2023 between the university, the China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) and the China University of Petroleum.

During the three-week training, students will learn about modern technologies in the oil and gas industry, visit CNPC production facilities, and study current topics, including ‘green’ energy and prospects for energy cooperation on the Silk Road. Special attention is paid to cultural exchange – programme participants visit iconic sites in China and learn the basics of the country's language and culture.

At the same time, another group of university students is undergoing practical training at CNPC production facilities in Turkmenistan itself, which allows them to combine international experience with the study of modern technologies used directly in the national oil and gas industry.

These educational initiatives demonstrate Turkmenistan's comprehensive approach to training specialists for the fuel and energy sector, combining advanced international practices with the needs of the national economy.
