On 13 June, during a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers, the Chairwoman of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan, Dunyagozel Gulmanova, reported on the activities of the national parliament, in particular on the preparation of draft laws in accordance with the country's socio-economic development programmes. This was reported by the state news agency TDH.
These initiatives cover various areas, from economics and politics to culture. At the same time, work is underway to strengthen ties with parliaments of other countries and international organisations. In this context, meetings were held with delegations from the Senate of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe. During the talks, issues of parliamentary partnership and legislative cooperation were discussed.
Representatives of the Mejlis also took part in a number of meetings and seminars organised by state bodies in conjunction with international structures. In addition, deputies made working visits to Dushanbe (Tajikistan) and Sarajevo (Bosnia and Herzegovina).
Summarising the information, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasised the importance of further work on the preparation of draft laws aimed at ensuring the socio-economic progress of the country.
