National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, on 5 August, as part of official events taking place in Turkmenistan, presented the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, with Turkmenistan's highest state award, the Order ‘For Contribution to the Development of Cooperation’. This was reported by the IIC of Turkmenistan.

According to the Decree of the President of Turkmenistan dated 5 August, the award was presented to the Head of Uzbekistan for his significant personal contribution to strengthening bilateral relations, developing friendship and mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries, as well as for his efforts to enhance the international authority of Turkmenistan within the framework of his state and public activities.

Speaking at the ceremony, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov noted the significant role of Shavkat Mirziyoyev in the development of strategic partnership between Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan and expressed gratitude for the support of Turkmen initiatives in the international arena.

The award ceremony was a testament to the high level of mutual trust, respect and sustainable neighbourly relations based on the deep historical, cultural and spiritual ties between the peoples of the two countries.
