The Head of State made this statement during an official meeting with President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, TDH reports.
Head of Turkmenistan recalled that relations between the two countries are based on the Strategic Partnership Agreement and the Declaration on Strengthening Friendship. Common historical and cultural ties remain the basis for cooperation.
In the political and diplomatic sphere, Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan are working on issues of security, energy, transport, climate and sustainable development goals. Turkmenistan also supports cooperation within the framework of the Consultative Meetings of the Heads of State of Central Asia and the ‘CA+’ formats. A separate proposal was made to include Azerbaijan in the consultative format.
Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted the need for joint projects in the field of ecology — waste processing, ‘green’ construction, and protection of the Aral and Caspian Seas.
In the economic sphere, the parties are recording steady growth in trade turnover. Turkmenistan expressed its readiness to expand cooperation in the energy sector, including the exchange of experience in hydrocarbon production and environmental safety issues. The electricity sector, chemical industry, metallurgy, machine building, textile industry, petrochemicals, gas processing and urban development were also mentioned.
Transport and logistics are a separate subject. Road infrastructure is being developed. A bridge across the Garabogazgol Bay has been put into operation, and construction of a road from Turkmenbashi to the state border is continuing.
The President of Turkmenistan pointed to the potential for cooperation in the digital economy and innovation, as well as in the agro-industrial complex. Among the topical issues is the rational use of water resources.
The cultural and humanitarian sphere remains an important part of the partnership: science, education, healthcare, physical culture and sport.
In conclusion, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov thanked President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev for his contribution to strengthening relations and expressed confidence that cooperation between the two countries will continue to develop.
