On October 21, the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Austria hosted an official reception in Vienna to mark the 35th anniversary of the country’s independence. The event took place at the Rathauskeller—a historic hall in the basement of Vienna City Hall, according to Turkmenportal.

The reception was attended by heads of diplomatic missions accredited in Austria, representatives of the Austrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and international organizations, business leaders, members of the board of the Turkmen-Austrian Society, journalists, and students from Turkmenistan studying in Vienna.

Welcoming remarks were delivered by Hemra Amannazarov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan to Austria; a representative of the Austrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs; and Neda Berger, chair of the Turkmen-Austrian Society.

In her remarks, Neda Berger spoke about Turkmenistan’s achievements in politics, diplomacy, the economy, and culture. She also shared her impressions of the World Akhal-Teke Horse Beauty Championship, held on September 4–5 in the Netherlands, and her participation in the International Forum. In addition, Berger congratulated the National Leader of the Turkmen people and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, on receiving an award from the International Horse Breeding Association for his contribution to the development of the Akhal-Teke breed.

At the conclusion of the event, Neda Berger read excerpts from a poem dedicated to the 35th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s independence.

The reception served as a ground for discussing bilateral relations and reaffirmed the interest of the Austrian business community and the general public in Turkmenistan. The event also highlighted the growing cooperation between the two countries in the political, economic, and cultural spheres.
