President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov congratulated the participants of the exhibition of carpets and carpet products, as well as the XXV meeting of the World Association of Turkmen Carpet Connoisseurs held on the occasion of the Turkmen Carpet Holiday. It is reported by the state news agency TDH.

The Head of State noted that Turkmen carpets are an important part of the national heritage and are included in the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO).

The President of Turkmenistan emphasised that carpets reflect the spiritual values of the people, their traditions and national peculiarities. Serdar Berdimuhamedov drew attention to the development of the art of carpet weaving in modern Turkmenistan, creation of new enterprises and support of carpet weavers through honourable titles and encouragements.

In conclusion, the head of state wished the participants good health, prosperity and success in preserving and promoting the national art of carpet weaving.
