Key aspects of cooperation with Russia discussed in Ashgabat

President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov held a meeting with Russian Deputy Prime Minister Marat Husnullin, who arrived in Ashgabat on a visit. This was reported by the state news agency TDH.

The Russian Deputy Prime Minister conveyed greetings from Russian President Vladimir Putin and Russian Prime Minister Mihail Mishustin, noting the high level of strategic partnership between the two countries and Turkmenistan's impressive achievements in socio-economic development.

Serdar Berdimuhamedov stressed the importance of the visit for strengthening intergovernmental dialogue and expressed confidence that the negotiations would give new impetus to bilateral cooperation.

The parties reaffirmed their commitment to developing a strategic partnership based on the principles of friendship, trust and equality, noting active cooperation within the framework of the UN, the CIS and the ‘Central Asia – Russia’ format.

Particular attention was paid to issues of expanding trade and economic ties and humanitarian cooperation in the fields of education, science, culture and healthcare.

On the same day, the 13th meeting of the Turkmen-Russian Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation was held in Ashgabat.

The parties discussed the implementation of joint projects and new areas of cooperation, and signed a number of documents, including the Protocol of the meeting and agreements on cooperation in education, agriculture, horse breeding, stock exchange and customs.

The results of the negotiations confirmed the desire of Turkmenistan and Russia to further strengthen their mutually beneficial partnership and utilise the potential of bilateral cooperation.
