On August 19, on the instructions of the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, a meeting of the Council of Elders under the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan and the Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Charitable Foundation for Assistance to Children in Need of Guardianship was held at the ‘Maslahat köşgi’ Palace in Ashgabat. This was reported by the state news agency TDH.

The meeting discussed the tasks of the Council, the role of elders in educating young people and strengthening spiritual and moral values, as well as issues of social support for children left without parental care.

Special attention was paid to the admission of new members. Meretgeldi Gulgeldiyev and Italmaz Saparlyev, honorary elders of Turkmenistan, were elected to the Council for the city of Ashgabat, and Kakajan Tashliyev was elected for the Ahal velayat.

The participants expressed their gratitude to the country's leadership for supporting the elders and emphasised their role in strengthening the unity of the people, passing on traditions and experience to younger generations, and solving important state tasks.
