From 2 to 4 July, a seminar organised by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Ministry of Finance and Economy of Turkmenistan was held in Ashgabat. The event was part of a joint project on financial market development and institutional environment improvement. This was reported by the IIC of Turkmenistan.

UNDP international expert Elena Andreeva presented to participants the key elements of the functioning of the securities market, from types of instruments to mechanisms for recording investor rights and the activities of depositories and registrars. The draft programme for the development of the securities market in Turkmenistan until 2030 and the plan for its implementation were also discussed.

In addition to the training sessions, the expert held consultations with representatives of government agencies, presenting proposals for updating legislation and developing the country's financial system.
