Ashgabat and Moscow signed a protocol of understanding on digital transformation

A Russian delegation led by Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Grigorenko visited Turkmenistan for negotiations on the digitalisation of the economy and the expansion of trade and economic cooperation, according to the online news resource TerraNews.

During the three-day visit, Grigorenko met with Deputy Prime Minister of Turkmenistan Mammethan Chakyev to discuss joint IT projects, the development of communications infrastructure, information security, and the participation of Russian companies in the creation of data centres.

Particular attention was paid to the training of specialists and academic exchange: Grigorenko spoke to students at the Institute of Telecommunications and Informatics and gave a press conference. The delegation also visited the international exhibition ‘Healthcare, Education and Sports in the Renaissance Era of a New Epoch of a Powerful State’ and museums in Ashgabat.

Following the visit, a Memorandum of Understanding on digital transformation was signed and an Agreement on the exchange of experience between the Ministry of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media and the Ministry of Communications of Turkmenistan was reached. There are plans to supply Russian satellite communications equipment and to carry out joint scientific projects.

The parties confirmed their readiness to implement new initiatives that open up opportunities for Russian IT companies in the Turkmenistan market.
