From 30 September to 2 October, Ashgabat hosted events organised by the International Trade Centre (ITC) project ‘Turkmenistan: Trade Sustainability and Integration’, supported by the European Union. This was reported by the online news resource AsmanNews.

On 30 September, an expert meeting on the national roadmap for trade facilitation was held, followed by a two-day training session for employees of the State Customs Service.

The meeting presented strategic objectives and measures to bring national foreign trade regulations into line with the WTO's Trade Facilitation Agreement (TFA). Participants discussed the document, noting its importance for Turkmenistan's possible accession to the WTO, and familiarised themselves with the CART.IS tool for analysing inter-agency data exchange in digital format.

The training included studying the provisions of the TFA, the classification of trade facilitation measures, digitalisation and inter-agency interaction. Practical tasks allowed participants to simulate real situations and work out steps to improve the efficiency of customs administration.
