As part of the second phase of construction of the ‘smart’ city of Arkadag in southern Turkmenistan, work is continuing on the construction of a large industrial complex, the centrepiece of which will be a modern medical cluster. Oguljahan Atabayeva, Vice-President for Medical Activities of the Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Charitable Foundation for Assistance to Children in Need of Guardianship, familiarised herself with the progress of the work and listened to a report from the Chairman of the State Committee for City Construction. This was reported by IIC.

The construction project provides for the creation of a multifunctional production centre where medicines, medical equipment and consumer goods, including baby food, personal protective equipment and other products, will be developed and manufactured. Particular attention is being paid to the use of local raw materials, which will ensure the environmental friendliness of the products and their competitiveness on the market.

The cluster's management company has already received international quality certificates, and the ‘Arkadag Medisina Klasteri’ trademark has been officially registered with the World Intellectual Property Organisation. The cluster's capabilities will soon be presented at the Kids EXPO international exhibition in Ashgabat.

The project is being implemented as part of the ‘Saglyk’ state programme and is part of the strategy to develop high-tech and import-substituting industries in Turkmenistan. The finished products will be sold both on the domestic market and for export.
