At the international forum dedicated to the International Day of Neutrality and the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s permanent neutrality, the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, congratulated the Turkmen people on the neutrality milestone. This was reported by the IIC.
Vladimir Putin recalled that on December 12, 1995, the UN General Assembly unanimously recognized Turkmenistan’s neutral status, which became the foundation for the country’s sustainable development and strengthened its international standing.
The Russian President noted Turkmenistan’s progress in various fields, its balanced foreign policy, and the country’s contribution to regional and global security. Special attention was given to the Ashgabat Declaration — an initiative by Turkmenistan that received full support from Russia.
Vladimir Putin also highlighted the dynamic development of the Russian-Turkmen strategic partnership, successful joint projects in energy, transport, and industry, as well as the expansion of humanitarian and educational ties. The President of Russia congratulated Turkmenistan on its upcoming chairmanship of the CIS in 2026 and expressed readiness to provide support.
In conclusion, Vladimir Putin thanked the Turkmen leadership for their hospitality and once again congratulated the country on the International Day of Neutrality and the 30th anniversary of its permanent neutrality.
