A joint statement by three countries has been agreed in Turkmenistan

On 22 August, a meeting was held in the ‘Avaza’ National Tourist Zone between the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev. During the meeting, the interlocutors adopted a joint statement, according to the state news agency TDH.

The parties emphasised the historical and cultural proximity of the peoples and confirmed their commitment to strengthening strategic partnership.

The interlocutors declared their intention to develop cooperation in the political, economic, transport, energy and humanitarian spheres, as well as to intensify interaction within international organisations.

Special attention was paid to trade, industrial cooperation, the development of transport corridors, air links and tourism. The importance of joint action in the fields of ecology, energy and the fight against climate change was noted separately.

The sides also emphasised the importance of strengthening cultural and humanitarian ties between the countries. Following the meeting, the interlocutors confirmed their commitment to further developing friendship and cooperation in the interests of stability and sustainable development in the region.
