On 5 August, a briefing was held in the National Tourist Zone to mark the start of the plenary session of the Third United Nations Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDC 3). This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

The event was moderated by Al Arabiya TV presenter Riz Khan.

UN Secretary-General António Guterres, Turkmenistan's Foreign Affairs Minister Rashid Meredov, and UN Under-Secretary-General and High Representative for the Least Developed Countries, Landlocked Developing Countries and Small Island Developing States Rabab Fatima addressed the participants.

The speakers emphasised the key role of the LLDC 3 conference in supporting the sustainable and inclusive development of landlocked countries. Particular attention was paid to the importance of the decisions taken at the forum for stimulating economic growth in these countries.

The briefing also noted the symbolic importance of the event, which coincided with the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's policy of permanent neutrality and the 80th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations. The meeting concluded with a question-and-answer session.
