From 16 to 17 August, Ashgabat will host the 13th Taekwondo Championship for the Cup of the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea in Turkmenistan. The competition will be held at the Martial Arts Arena in the Olympic Village, according to the news website Turkmenportal.

The first tournament for the Ambassador’s Cup was held in 2010. Since then, these competitions have become an annual tradition and contribute to strengthening sports ties between the two countries.

In 2017, the national teams of Turkmenistan and South Korea participated in the 5th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games held in Turkmenistan. Today, about 500 athletes practise taekwondo in the country.
