The fifth meeting of the National Intersectoral Coordination Committee on the Implementation of the ‘One Health’ Approach in Turkmenistan, supported by the WHO, took place at the UN building in Ashgabat. This was reported by IIC of Turkmenistan.

The meeting was attended by representatives of the country’s relevant ministries and agencies, the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations (FAO) and the Regional Environmental Centre for Central Asia.

Participants reviewed the results of work carried out during the first half of 2026 and identified priority tasks within the framework of the regional project on pandemic prevention and preparedness.

The main focus was on developing cross-sectoral cooperation in the field of human, animal and environmental health, as well as raising public awareness of the prevention of zoonotic infections.
