The Swiss Government has announced that applications are now being accepted for the state scholarship programme for the 2027–2028 academic year. This was reported by the IIC of Turkmenistan.

Young professionals from Turkmenistan may apply for grants to carry out research and pursue doctoral studies at leading universities and research institutes in Switzerland.

Applicants must hold a master’s degree or an equivalent qualification and must have been born after 31 December 1991. Applicants must also submit a pre-approved research plan and a letter of support from a Swiss academic supervisor.

The programme provides a monthly stipend, health insurance, and partial reimbursement of accommodation and travel costs.

Research placements last between 6 and 12 months. Doctoral scholarships are awarded for one year, with the possibility of renewal.

Applications must be submitted electronically by 27 November 2026. Enquiries regarding participation by citizens of Turkmenistan should be directed to the Swiss Embassy in Baku, and detailed conditions are available on the programme’s official website.
