Turkmenistan youth team is participating in the CAFA-2025 championship

The Turkmenistan U20 national team is participating in the CAFA Championship, which started on 10 June and will be held in the Tajik cities of Gissar and Tursunzade. Six teams will play in the tournament, divided into two groups. This was reported by the online publication ‘Turkmenistan: Golden age’.

According to the results of the draw, the Turkmen team is in Group B, where its rivals will be the national teams of Iran and Uzbekistan. Group A will feature teams from Afghanistan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan. The tournament will be held in the following format: in the group stage, the teams will play each other in a single round. The winners of the groups will meet in the final, and the runners-up will compete for the bronze medals. There will also be a match for fifth place between the worst teams in the groups.

The head coach of the Turkmenistan U20 national team since last year is 44-year-old Dovletmyrat Annayev, who has extensive coaching experience. His staff includes Dayanch Karajayev and goalkeeping coach Merdan Saparov. The CAFA-2025 Championship will conclude on 17 June and will be an important stage in the preparation of young Turkmen footballers, allowing them to assess their level on the international stage.
