On May 26, a meeting was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan between the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Myahri Bashimova and the Director of the Multi-Country Office of the United Nations Office for Project Services in Austria, Simonetta Siligato. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
The sides discussed Turkmenistan’s cooperation with UNOPS and prospects for its further development. Special attention was paid to the climate agenda and the implementation of environmental programs aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
During the talks, the refinement of a joint program on methane emission reduction for 2026–2030 was considered.
Participants of the meeting also discussed the implementation of Turkmenistan’s tasks under the Global Methane Pledge and coordination issues among relevant government agencies.
Following the talks, both sides confirmed their readiness to continue cooperation in the field of sustainable development and climate initiatives.
