Turkmenistan and Tajikistan Discuss Cooperation within UNESCO

A meeting was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan on June 9 between Deputy Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan Myahri Byashimova and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Tajikistan to Turkmenistan, Vafo Niyatbekzoda. Chinar Rustemova, Executive Secretary of the National Commission for UNESCO Affairs, also took part in the meeting, according to the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The parties discussed cooperation within the framework of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). It was noted that Turkmenistan and Tajikistan are actively cooperating in the preservation and promotion of intangible cultural heritage. The participants emphasized the importance of further strengthening cooperation through UNESCO’s specialized mechanisms.
The sides also exchanged views on mutual support within the framework of UNESCO’s Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage. Following the talks, the parties reaffirmed their interest in further developing Turkmen-Tajik cooperation both bilaterally and within international organizations, including UNESCO.
